INTRODUCTION:
Welcome yet another time to Summer Encounter,
the demoscene computer arts festival in Denmark.
Summer Encounter is a purely non-commercial party, organized for
the gathering of all demoscene freaks, primarily from Denmark and
the surrounding countries.
This year, as the previous years, it is our goal to bring to you
a different experience, no noisy games, just 4 days of the very
best of realtime computer art on the PC.
Again we are definately not focusing on sponsor-gifts and high
competition prices, but on the real demoscene atmosphere that we
hope to bring you all for a couple of days.
Summer Encounter 97 will be held in our usual sportshall in the
middle of Jutland, Denmark - in a town called Harridslev, just
outside of Randers.
The party is held during:
THURSDAY 24TH OF JULY AT 13:00 OCLOCK
to
SUNDAY 27TH OF JULY AT 13:00 OCLOCK
Summer Encounter is a computer *festival* which means that its not
just an ordinary computer party! We have musical events, computer art
display, weird sports competitions and much more.
To give Summer Encounter the *real* festival feeling, please:
BRING A TENT!
We want you all to bring a tent and make a tent city for the quiet
and cool summer nights! After all, the fresh air and the quiet
surroundings outdoor gives you the best sleep :-

As usual we will keep the entrance fee as low as possible, which
means that this year it will cost you 150 DKr.

and 100 DKr in deposit, which will be returned when they leave.
One-Day visitors are not allowed to participate in the main

SPONSORS:
Summer Encounter 1997 could not exist without the help and sponsoring
of several companies and people.
At the moment we do not know the entire final list of sponsors. We
will release an update later on, when the list has been completed
and all negotiations have ended.
We would like to thank Mira Internet, who has already provided us
with a web-site, and who are looking into setting up a 256 kbit

PRICES TO WIN:
Because of last years problems with the exact pricings and other
parties experiences with fixed price-money, we have decided to
put out fixed percentages of the price-money.
With 200 visitors the price-money is 5.000 DKK + sponsored gifts.
With 350 visitors the price-money is 16.250 DKK + sponsored gifts.
We are currently negotiating with a main sponsor who might be
willing to sponsor an amount which might look somewhat the same
as what Summer Encounter is putting into the price-money.
Our budgets break-even point is at 200 visitors and 5.000 DKK.
50 of the entrance fee for all visitors above 200 will be used
for prices, the last 50 will be used to the extra expenses of
extra people, as well as saving an amount for next your so we
wont have to borrow money.
DEMO INTRO MUSIC GFX 3D GFX WILD
1st 15 7 6 6 6 10
2nd 9 5 4 4 4 6
3rd 6 2 2 2 2 4
Just as an example, we have this imaginary calculation.
With 350 visitors and 30.000 DKK in sponsored
gifts, the prices will be:
DEMO INTRO MUSIC GFX 3D GFX WILD
1st 6938 3.238 2.775 2.775 2.775 4625
2nd 4162 2.312 1.850 1.850 1.850 3238
3rd 2775 925 925 925 925 1850
Total: 46.250 DKK
Any major damage made by the visitors, will be paid from the prices.
Any major unforseen expenses will be cutted from the prices.
Prices for our Fast and CrAzY competitions will be surprises from
our sponsors. Please remember that Summer Encounter is a non-profit
party, and as such, no one is making any money on it.
Please be aware that we have no real intension of getting higher
price-money than 50.000 DKK, we believe that will ruin the meaning
of a non-commercial computer arts festival. Naturally we will not
say no to 100.000 DKK for prices :-

HOW TO FIND US:
Harridslev is located on the north of the city Randers.
Randers is in the middle of Jytland, on the east coast, aprox.
50 Km north of the big city Aarhus.
You will be able to find it on any decent roadmap, without problems
So well just give you directions from there. If you have trouble
getting here, you can use the blue X-busses or go by train.
At the moment we are trying to setup a party bus, going from Randers
to the party place on the first day, and back on the last. We will
setup signs at Randers bus- and railroad-station and announce it
publicly as soon as we know.
BUS:
If you get to Randers by bus, you will arrive at Randers bus
terminal. Here you can catch bus number 238 and then you have
to get of in Harridslev. Ask the driver to announce when he
arrives there. We will actually try and ask the bus company if
they can drive by the party place during SE96. If not, youll
have to walk aprox. 400m to the party place.
We have included a map of Harridslev MAP2.GIF, so you can
see which direction youre supposed to walk. Well setup some
party signs too, so dont worry.
CAR:
People who will be joining us by car will have to take a look at
MAP1.GIF first, this is a road-map of the Randers area. It shows
how you get from Randers to Harridslev. When at Harridslev, look
at MAP2.GIF for further directions.
TRAIN:
When you arrive at Randers train station, you will have to walk
aprox. 500m to the bridge. This is to the rigth when leaving the
train stations main entrance. From the bridge, you walk aprox.
100m to the left, where you will find the bus terminal.
Please look at MAP2.GIF
FERRY:
If you come by ferry to Grenaa or Ebeltoft you will be arriving on
the main road 16/21 when you enter the town. It is quite easy when
you get off the ferry - you just follow the signs to Randers. From
Randers you follow the maps and the same roading directions as for
travelling by car.
MAPS:
This is a fast set of directions to go with the map files.
MAP1.GIF A map of Randers showing how to get from Randers
to Harridslev. The pink box in the right upper
corner is Harridslev
MAP2A.GIF A closeup of Haridslev, without any names, but with
the exact roadings, everything included.
Print this one out and use for reference.
MAP2B.GIF Drawing of the roads in Harridslev with roadnames.
