wOEZINE!eMAG was formed in the late months of 1996 after an idea by Elmer
Fudd and Dreadnought maybe d3m0n too, dont remember. The idea was to
make a kickass emag for our group: wOE. The emag was intended to be by-
and for wOE members only. Shortly after the first wOEZINE beta were out
and everyone loved it. Elmer Fudd made the first beta of wOEZINE, but as
the beta was out, wOE members didnt like the attitude of Elmer Fudd and
its sorry to say, but wOE kicked Elmer Fudd out of the group, mostly
because he didnt get along with the wOE founders and seniors. The emag
were never released, the only thing we saw was the beta. Then Dreadnought
came along and promised to keep up the work on wOEZINE, but with his own
code and features. Dreadnought made a beta of the emag and it looked
promising, but after a while, dN didnt get along with d3m0n, and somehow
he quitted wOE and all we had was this beta!.. Iguess somehow d3m0n felt
responsible and soon after d3m0n started to code his version of the emag.
Since dreadnought wouldnt give away his source code, d3m0n needed to code
the entire emag from scratch. After a couple of weeks/months?, d3m0n were
finally ready to release wOEZINE!eMAG OO1. The emag contained wOEs fully
memberlist and info about the scene and wOE. But we noticed that not only
wOE members were interested in reading this emag, also people from other
scenes were interested in reading and contributing, still we produced OO1
as a emag for wOE members only to read. After issue OO1, d3m0n decided to
quit wOE and the scene, because he had gotten a girl and a life?wife?
so yet another time, we didnt have a emag to release. After some talks,
d3m0n decided to give the source code of the emag to the third founder of
wOE: pogue. But the source code wasnt whole, files were missing and
routines were missing. The hard job was to build up the source so it
looked mostly like issue OO1 of wOEZINE. After some coding, pogue did
release issue OO2 of the emag. And pogue has released and coded this
emag ever since... Lets hope he doesnt get tired of doing it

wOEZINE doesnt require much of your computer. This emag is compressed
and all the articles are compressed into the .exe file, no external .dat
files or anything wOEZINE requires minimum a 386 computer with a small
drive. We have also tested wOEZINE on a 486sx 33mhz computer with 16megs
of ram and it works great, we have also test wOEZINE on a pII 333mhz with
64megs of ram and a pII 400mhz, and it works great on those computers
aswell. All the above computers was running in dos modus, under either
windows 95 or 98. We havent found any bugs in wOEZINE, except for a
small bug with the ansi scroller, but we are working to fix that problem
sometime in the near future.
You can either run wOEZINE in DOS EMU, windows 3.x, windows 95/98/2000 or
pure DOS. There is no limitations. wOEZINE has been worked on since around
October of 1996 and we have therefore destroyed most of the bugs in the
emag and we have also made it a stable emag. It simpy wont crash your
computer, but IF? it does, please report it to us.
wOEZINE is coded in Turbo Pascal with use of objects, units and some ASM
routines. By putting all the articles into the .exe file instead of into
some kind of .dat file, we have made the emag faster and stable. The emag
uses its own article reader and its own script language for reading the
articles + a converter which converts any text file into a woezine article
format file. If anyone has any cool coding ideas they wont to share with
us, just mail us and well get back to you.
IF WOEZINE WONT WORK? It might be if you havent used tppatch and then
get a error right after you have started woezine.exe. Just get TPPATCH
and run that program, woezine will work after that.

We havent really keept a list of what has been changes in wOEZINE since
the start of issue O1 and till our latest issue. But I can say this, alot
of features has been added, such as new fading routines, faster scroller,
2x article readers and alot more.
One feature I know Ive added in issue O1O and newer, is that you no
longer need to hit ESC to get out of an article. You can now either hit
ESC or just hit ENTER to get out of an article.
The ascii reader has been changed for issue O11 of wOEZINE, we hope that
it will work satisfying.
