room, ready once again for

aiming then towards middle
America, launch ALL missles towards
north western Russ
ia, where the missle silos are located, now."
Easy en
ough, he readies the launch. He puts the aim to where
he was told to. He tells the base to get ready to launch every
missle towards the destination on his command. He is a
bout to
make history in just a little bit of time.
Everything is ready. Push the button rings through his m
ind, and
that is it. But he can't bring himself to do
it. He tries to
get his hands from his sides and to th
e console, but he can't do
it. He was ready for the re
sponsibility to launch the missles, but
he really wasn'
t ready to kill all those people. He has to do it,
or
he will die, no hesitation.
"Corporal! Launch all mi
ssles now towards the destination!"
He brings his fin
ger up to the console, six buttons to push to
launch si
x of the deadliest missles in the world. He couldn't
d
o it, and he just sat there in a sweat.
He knew he ha
d to do it, but he couldn't. It was just a long loop
o
f why he should, and then why he shouldn't. The delays are taki
ng
too long now. They will not make a difference.
He brings his hand to the console once again, he is going
to do
it, he has his orders, but then the room lights
up, and he can
still remember he couldn't do his one an
d only duty.
