Twenty years ago, a group of hackers gathered in San Diego, CA for the first Toorconconvention. Bonded by an early love of technology, and a penchant for thinking outside the box, the event grew over time. Inspired by CCC Camp in Europe, Toorcamp was also born, bringing scenesters to the woods to play with tech with the limitations of camping. They also hosted Toorcon Seattle, which featured talks in super fun bars. And dont forget Worldtoor, the first hacker convention in Antarctica. To celebrate twenty years of Toorcon, Pinguino and Geo held a three part art contest: logo, program guide, and t-shirt. The winners of this years contest were Nail logo, Tayopa shirt, and program cover The Knight. And whats a hacker con without a fancy electronic badge? Will Caruana found me at a party at Defcon, and asked me to do the art the same night that Toorcon co-founder h1kari mentioned that he wanted to see some ansi rep this year. The result? A robot cat holding a heart- symbolizing hackerfam. The badge contained WillCs LED soldering contest, where therainbow LEDs within the heart got smaller and harder to solder.Hope to see some of you at a future event! 3 Pinguino
