The Growing Earth
Clouds,Fold
ing into each other,Rush past me.I
hang in a freefallOf the deep blue heavens.
The vast sky grasps me,But faster and faster
its grip loosens.Below, a flock of frightened gees
eSpeed towards me.Losing their fo

ing specks againstThe midday sun.
We go our own separate ways,The geese having more c
ontrolOver their fate than I do with mine.
My own wings of flesh and bonesCannot move
fast enough to catchAnd hold the evasive air
I am more than disheartenedBy the faile
d attempt to remain aloft.I gasp for some of the th
in passing windAnd see more clouds approachin
g.
Shielding my eyes,
The waterladen mists assault me,
As one would attack an intruder of the home.
My laboring heart pounds against my spine,
Searching for escape, but finding no refuge.
As the sky rotates around me I see its contents:
The birds, the clouds, my abandoned hot air balloon,
The hazy sun, and through a new layer of clouds:
The growing Earth. The giant sphere becomes clearer
With every passin cloud, yet it also rotates around me.
Soon the clouds, the earth, the sun, the heavens mix together and I
find myself
in the center of this vertigo as the colors blend green white blue b
