i guess this would be my little tribute to soap... let me bring you back one
year ago, i was using the nick living paranoia and had just gotten in plain
i thought i had reached the pinnacle of what ascii had to offer.. then i saw SOAP1195.ZIP and was in awe, these people were pushing ascii to a whole new
level and made quite a big impression on the ascii scene as a whole. suddenly
i realized ascii had a lot more to offer than what i thought. granted i didnt
become good overnight hell, it took me about 5 months but i probably wouldnt
have tried becoming any better if it werent for that, and all the other soap
packs i looked at, admired, and studied during the process. since the time i
actually became good i was in rune, went to blade, got rejected from fire, and
then fulfilled what had been my goal and joined soap. unfortunately i joined
right when things were going downhill but what im trying to say is that soap
msd,endless nameless,prizm,jestor,sarkazm, defiant, etc.. opened several
doors for ascii popularizing the whole colored ascii idea, now whether you
followed them or not thats your choice, but undisputably soap was and should
always be seen as a collection of the best ascii artists around. now this group that had done so much for ascii is releasing its last pack, with this i also
understand that several artists that were in soap will be leaving the scene as
well.. soap was more than just your run of a mill group, it was the only ascii group that pushed the limits to what was previously done. anyone who enjoyed
ascii at all should pay a little respect to soap, groups pop up everywhere, but rarely does a group do what soap did for the ascii scene and scene as a whole.
